Pranati Nayak wins bronze at Asian Artistic Gymnastic Championship

first_imgNew Delhi: Indian gymnast Pranati Nayak Friday clinched a bronze medal in vault event at the Senior Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The 23-year-old from West Bengal, who had qualified for vault finals with a sixth place, came up with a score of 13.384 to claim the bronze medal. She had scored 13.400 and 13.367 in the first and second vault respectively. China’s Yu Linmin (14.350) and Japan’s Ayaka Sakaguchi (13.584) won the gold and silver medal at the event. I feel blessed that Pranati has been able to win the medal,” Pranati’s coach Minara Begum said. Riyaz Bhati, vice-President of Gymnastic Federation of India (GFI), also congratulated Pranati for the feat. “I am extremely happy for Pranati Nayak as she secured a medal at the Asian Championships. ABB buys GE Industrial Solutions

first_imgABB has announced the acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions, GE’s global electrification solutions business. GE Industrial Solutions has deep customer relationships in more than 100 countries and an established installed base with strong roots in North America, ABB’s biggest market. GE Industrial Solutions is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and has about 13,500 employees around the world. In 2016, GE Industrial Solutions had revenues of approximately $2.7 billion, with an operational EBITDA margin of approximately 8% and an operational EBITA margin of approximately 6%. ABB will acquire GE Industrial Solutions for $2.6 billion; the transaction will be operationally accretive in year one. ABB expects to realize approximately $200 million of annual cost synergies in year five, which will be key in bringing GE Industrial Solutions to peer performance. As part of the transaction and overall value creation, ABB and GE have agreed to establish a long-term, strategic supply relationship for GE Industrial Solutions products and ABB products that GE sources today. “With GE Industrial Solutions, we strengthen our Number 2 position in electrification globally and expand our access to the attractive North American market,” said ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer. “Combined with the long-term strategic supply relationship with GE, this transaction creates significant value for our shareholders.” He added: “Together with the GE Industrial Solutions team, we will execute our well-established plans in a disciplined way to bring this business as part of the global ABB family back to peer performance. McDaids Football Special An oral history of the Donegal delicacy

first_imgTry as you might, finding Football Special and associated products outside Donegal and parts of the North can prove difficult.Oliver Farry wrote:I imagined [Football Special] was the stuff that victorious football teams drank from the cup but later when I started appearing on such teams myself I was shocked to learn there was no McDaids Football Special outside Donegal. We had to make do with red lemonade, which was tantamount to imposing Babycham on Formula 1 champions.Edward McDaid says that national distribution has always been a problem, with the company dealing directly with smaller independent shops.We did think that we’d be able to build a national distribution network but the recession knocked that on the head, and with so many of the smaller shops shutting down. My Uncle Eamon had been trained in a soft drinks company in Northern Ireland, and learned the discipline of writing down everything that went into every batch. He was very diligent in writing everything down.And so when the Football Special formula was devised – a concoction of syrups and juices and flavours tracked meticulously by Eamon – they knew they were onto a winner.Inextricably linked to local football teams the drink soon grew in popularity, particularly among the seaside towns of the Donegal coast: Portsalon, Falcarragh, Ballyshannon, Bundoran, and into Derry. It also had football in its name, which made it the best drink ever.Football Special was developed originally to “help celebrate the numerous successes of local football club Swilly Rovers” and was first called ‘Football Cup’; it was designed to be poured into the cup of a trophy to mark a win. Source: FacebookThe summer months and the sunny weather meant it was tricky to get hold of McDaids CEO Edward McDaid.However, in between deliveries and orders and meetings he told DailyEdge.ie that the company was borne out of his grandfather’s innate knowledge of a good customer base, and his family’s ties to the distribution and pub trades.With the family business graduating from the shop to the van business to a bottling factory with a contract with Guinness, Edward says it was his father and his uncles who came up with the Football Special secret formula.The soft drinks game is a seasonal business. So in the winter time when it was quiet they’d be tinkering with ingredients – that wasn’t unusual. Hi brother Michael recalls that their cousin Ciaran’s house in Dublin was:fully stocked with Football Special for the famous 2012 Donegal All-Ireland winning season.It wasn’t for everyone though. Former Xposé and Phantom 105.2 presenter and Donegal girl Michelle Doherty said:There was a bit of fizz in it but not that much and it was quite sweet. Oh I’ll be disowned now for dissing Football Special.
