Breaking: Ighalo joins Man U on loan

first_imgRelatedPosts Martins joins Wuhan Zall Ighalo: My best moment as ‘Red Devil’ EPL: Crystal Palace stun sloppy Man U Manchester United have completed the loan signing of striker Odion Ighalo for the rest of the season. Official confirmation may take some time, due to the time difference between the UK and China, but the deal has been completed. It is a six-month loan signing, with no option to buy at the end of the spell. The Red Devils have been frantically searching for a new striker all month with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately in need of more attacking options. United had been linked with a host of attacking options, including Edinson Cavani, Josh King and Teemu Pukki on Deadline Day. Solskjaer is in need of reinforcements due to a back injury to Marcus Rashford, which has likely left the England international out of action until April. Anthony Martial has been Solskjaer’s first choice striker this season, with 17-year-old Mason Greenwood proving able back up when needed. Due to the nature of the last minute deal, Ighalo is still in China and will not be available for Saturday’s clash against Wolves. He is expected to fly in within the next two days. Ighalo had been in China since January 2017 after leaving Watford for £20 million. Ighalo scored 15 goals in his first season in the Premier League with the Hornets after helping them clinch promotion from the Championship the year before, but was shipped out to Asia after a disappointing second. Ighalo is United’s second first team signing of the window, following Bruno Fernandes £67 million arrival from Sporting Lisbon on Thursday.Tags: Chinese Super LeagueManchester UnitedMarcus RashfordOdion IghaloOle Gunnar Solksjaerlast_img read more
